Antique patina
In the old days when interior bronze was polished and dusted over many years it developed an aged antique patina that was usually dark brown or black.
Our antique planters have a patina similar in colour to dark chocolate with the leaves highlighted for contrast.
Verdigris patina
When bronze is situated outdoors and is exposed to the weather over many years the metal oxidizes and produces a surface film, this is called a patina. and is often blue/green or gray/green in colour
Verdigris planters will continue to age if left outdoors.
Patina - pronounced "pa-ti-nuh"
A green or brown film on the surface of old bronze. ( Oxford dictionary)
For centuries mineral acids have been applied to new bronze to
recreate this aged and weathered look. This is done by applying many layers of a patina fluid,
allowing each layer to dry and gradually building up a wonderful aged patina on the surface.
